Vision Correction That Could Last a Lifetime
At Eyes on Plainville, we’re always searching for new and effective ways to help find a solution to your vision problems. A big part of that is finding a permanent answer to help your vision be the best it can be.
If you’re craving a long-term solution, laser eye surgery may be just what you’re looking for. Are you interested in what laser eye surgery can do for you?
What Is Laser Eye Surgery?
Laser eye surgery is a type of surgery that can correct vision issues and lower your dependency on other vision correction methods such as glasses or contacts.
During laser eye surgery, a surgeon uses a laser to make permanent changes to your eye in order to correct refractive errors. While laser eye surgery is highly effective, it doesn’t guarantee 20/20 vision, and you may still require glasses or contacts after the procedure.
What Conditions Can Laser Eye Surgery Manage?
Laser eye surgery is used to correct refractive errors such as:
- Myopia (nearsightedness)
- Hyperopia (farsightedness)
- Astigmatism
Your Laser Eye Surgery Options
At Eyes on Plainville, we offer consultations for some types of laser eye surgery. Click each title to learn more.
LASIK
LASIK is a type of laser eye surgery that can correct most refractive errors. During LASIK, a surgeon will use a laser to reshape your inner cornea.
SMILE
SMILE is an alternative to LASIK and is performed to correct nearsightedness. SMILE is performed using the same technology as LASIK but involves a smaller incision, which may decrease common side effects compared to other types of laser eye surgeries.
PRK
PRK is a type of laser eye surgery meant for patients with thin corneas. If you have thin corneas, you may not be a suitable candidate for surgeries such as LASIK or SMILE. PRK involves a different technique to reshape the cornea with similar results.
Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL)
Implantable Collamer Lens surgery, or ICL, is a type of laser eye surgery in which an artificial lens is permanently implanted in the eye to improve refractive errors.
