Protect Your Visual Health

A comprehensive eye exam goes beyond testing your vision. While each eye exam allows us to test your eyesight, we can also assess your overall health and wellness.

Our exams begin with a brief discussion so we can get to know you and your individual needs. Whether it’s your first time visiting or you’ve been a patient for years, we want to completely understand everything about your vision, from the symptoms you’re experiencing to your family and medical history.

Our team can then assess your entire visual system, provide you with a prescription, and create a customized treatment plan depending on your exam results.

How Often Should You Have Your Eyes Checked?

How often you get an eye exam depends on a few different factors. If you have no pre-existing health conditions, the American Association of Optometrists recommends getting an eye exam:

  • Every 2 years, if you’re between the ages of 18–64
  • Every year if you’re an adult aged over 65

If you have a pre-existing health condition, like diabetes or hypertension, you may need eye exams more frequently.

Before Your Appointment

Before your exam, we’ll send you an email with a link to your paperwork to complete prior to your appointment. Then we can verify your insurance information to make your appointment as efficient as possible.

When you arrive at Eyes on Plainville, you’ll be greeted with a smiling face and welcomed to our practice. We’ll check you in and scan your medical insurance before showing you where to wait.

In accordance with the CDC protocol and guidelines, we require you to wear a mask covering your nose and mouth inside our office and ask you to sanitize your hands when you come in.

After our pretest area and exam room have been sanitized, we will perform a few tests prior to your complete exam to ensure the accuracy of your exam and prescription.

Once this has been completed, your doctor will begin your comprehensive eye exam, where they will assess your vision and perform an entire eye health check. If you have any vision issues, your doctor will recommend a treatment plan based on your needs.

Once your exam is finished, our reception staff will ask that you pay for your appointment. Your copays are due at the time of the visit. We accept cash, credit cards and have touchless check-out available!
